Jordi Landry, 17, is a recent transfer student and Senior at Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein. Jordi made the difficult decision to change schools during her junior year from a prominent school that was all on-line learning during the pandemic. She quickly excelled in her studies and earned a spot on the varsity track team as a sprinter and a relay runner, in which she competed at state for three events last season. In addition, Jordi has continued her dancing and is now beginning her seventh and final year at Extensions. Finding the right balance between dance, school, track, and other obligations can be quite a challenge, but for Jordi, dance is a welcome distraction. She loves contemporary because it is so open to personal style and choice making, and there is no wrong answer. She looks forward to performing her final Extensions solo that she has collaborated with Lizzie MacKenzie.
Her dance training has not been without challenges. Jordi had to overcome a serious arm injury that made it impossible to dance for a whole year! During that time, Jordi was able to work out in a gym, train for track and become a stronger dancer. She now has a greater appreciation for the simpler things in life. When she is not at the studio you can find her dog walking, hanging with friends, riding her motor scooter, or practicing piano for an upcoming performance.
