*What dance means to me
Dance is what gets me out of bed every morning and motivates me to get through the day. It feeds my desire to move my body and stay healthy and strong; but dance is much more to me than just a physical thing. It is a way for me to express myself freely without fear of judgment or failure. It helps connect me back to who I am at my core, especially on days when I feel lost and unsure of who I am. It forces me to flex my creative muscle and takes my imagination to places I never knew I could go.
*What Extensions means to me
Extensions Dance Company is my home. There is never a day I walk into the studio and I don’t feel loved, supported, and celebrated. Extensions has truly changed me as a person. The life lessons Lizzie and the rest of the faculty have taught me such as resilience, a strong work ethic, consistency, and passion have made a difference in all aspects of my life. Everyday that I am in the studio training, I am inspired by my teachers and fellow company members. I am so proud to be a part of an organization containing so many people who genuinely love what they do. The connections I have made at Extensions will hold a special place in my heart for the rest of my life.
*What I aspire to do after I graduate
After I graduate from Extensions I plan to go to college for dance and then work as a professional dancer. My favorite styles are ballet and contemporary, so dancing on a contemporary ballet company is one of my dreams. I would also love to be a Rockette or possibly perform on Broadway. Later in my career I hope to teach or open my own studio. Having such incredible mentors and teachers at Extensions, I hope to one day be able to affect young dancers lives the way mine has been affected at Extensions. While I cannot be sure where I will end up after I graduate, I know that Lizzie and the rest of the faculty have prepared me to take any challenge I face head on.
