Fiona
Bio
Fiona D, born and raised in the city of Chicago, is going into her sixth year of study with Extensions Dance Company and she is honored to be in her 2nd year with the Junior Company! In the fall of 2014 at age 8, Fiona had the opportunity to come to Extensions and study under her mentor Lizzie MacKenzie, joining the petite group where she found her passion and desire to dive more deeply into the art of dance after studying at Joffrey ballet as a young girl for 2 years. In fall 2015 she was excited to become a company member of Extensions Too!, working harder than ever to grow in her study of dance and self expression. Fiona is a 7th grader at Beaubien Elementary and turning 13 years old September 2019. In previous years she enjoyed summer intensives with Extensions and Elements Contemporary Ballet focusing on the development of improv and technique in ballet, jazz and contemporary dance. This past summer she had the amazing experience of attending Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan with a focus in classical ballet and on a partial merit scholarship. She is thrilled to be a founding member of the Chicago City Classical Ballet under the direction of Tatyana Mazur! Fiona loves dance because she can truly assert herself and finds that it is a way to release her inner voice and reveal emotion, strength and vulnerability. In addition to her passion for dance, her favorite pastime is hanging out on aerial silks, singing and playing piano and guitar with her father.
